Researchers conducted the study on mice and followed them for 13 weeks. One group was fed a high fat diet. Another group was also fed a high fat diet, but was also given vitamin E in their diet. The third group had no change in their diet.

They found the mice that were fed the high fat diet alone put on gained weight while the group who ate a high fat diet plus vitamin E significantly lowered their weight. Their cholesterol levels also dropped.

For those new to this forum, vitamin E is key to heart health, just as Linus Pauling wrote in his 1986 book How To Live Longer and Feel Better. Low vitamin E levels is a significant leading indicator of an impending heart attack, significantly better predicting than either high cholesterol or high blood pressure. My book (and our discussions here) present empirical evidence that people who forget to take their E, may experience a heart attack in roughly 60 days after they run out of vitamin E. My father and brother for example. We speculated that this period is almost identical to the gestation period of red blood cells in the bone marrow, and the lack of vitamin E may lead to "stickiness" which leads to the infarction.

If Vitamin E also helps the body burn fat and/or lose weight, that is a nice secondary benefit.

Take your vitamin E. We recommend A.C Grace Unique-E. Pauling recommended 400 to 800 iu, but the Founder of A. C. Grace credited 4000 iu (in the morning) for saving his life.
