I found abstracts to a few studies on the effects of slow-release ascorbic acid. I thought they might be of interest.

Timed release Vitamin C combined with Vitamin E

Hi,

Just read that report. The conclusion is plainly predictable as the amount of 250mg is neither use nor ornament.
PEOPLE SMOKING 5 CIGARETTES A DAY USE UP 50MGS OF VITAMIN C A DAY! Do they not know this? Fools.

"CONCLUSIONS: This study shows that there were pharmacokinetic differences between plain and slow release formulations of ascorbic acid. However, these effects are small and unlikely to be of significant clinical importance."
(Fools!)

Why not increase the C dose to 20,000mg in 5 dosages and 3000 IU'S divided into 3 dosages over 24 hours?
Then you'd get a hugely positive result. Oh, make sure each of subjects have been on these amounts, one for timed release, one not timed release. I'd gloat when the results come through.

I can hear the conversation now: "Plasma levels 5-7 times higher than the RDA reckons is possible over 24 hours"

But the people in charge better not use these dosages because that's an overdose amount in their eyes and probably think 1000mg for C is overdoing it and 100iu for E is too.

They also don't want to do a study which could undermine the spurious work done by the RDA on C. got to keep the Pharma's in business...

Steve
