Answer: Almost never. According to basic toxicology studies, vitamin C is less toxic than water.
Oncology's (and their Pharma benefactor's) worst nightmare: People discover that completely NONTOXIC vitamin C can be used to fight, and often reverse cancer.
These "scare articles" are designed to preserve a very lucrative business. Added
Now we can see why this "blocking" article was issued, a real threat to oncology was just about to make the news.
Good catch. These articles usually come out to block the media affect of new studies or papers, in this case, Niacin (as Niacinamide) has a remarkable effect killing MRSA/super-bugs at mega doses as described here
I know they're lying and distorting the facts about Niacin, but does anyone know specifically how they're doing it in that paper? I'd like to be able to break it down for friends/family who bring that one up.

Good question jacquie. The argument in the article depends on a metabolite, 4PY, not a measurement of niacin. Another interpretation is that when you are suffering heart disease, the body tends to break down niacin faster trying to help itself.
They found that people with elevated levels of a metabolite called 4PY were around 60 per cent more likely, on average, to experience such an event than those with lower levels. This compound only arises when the body breaks down excess niacin.
Another equally valid conclusion could be that 4PY becomes elevated in 60 per cent of heart patients who have suffered a cardiac event.
As we know, inflammation, like high cholesterol, is not the cause of heart disease. These conditions are both symptoms.
And as far as "we know there is something missing," that missing element is vitamin E.
Thanks to the late Dr. Sinatra, we were alerted to a large WHO study of some 80,000 which measured blood levels and found low serum vitamin E is a better predictor of a heart attack than either high cholesterol or high blood pressure.
I see Big Brother (FTC) has gotten involved trying to stop this madness!

Vitamin C might be bad for cancer patients: A new study on antioxidants and tumors https://www.belnovosti.by/kitchen/vitam ... and-tumors
As usual there is some truth buried in the lies. Ever since the Pauling/Robinson controversy, it has been known that small amounts of vitamin C might feed tumors, but high amounts, especially very high amounts, and especially in the absence of sugar, kills cancer cells.
Vitamin C studies have also shown that vit. C can help patients overcome the side effects of chemo, radiation and surgery.

For example, eating a single orange gives you almost all the Vitamin C you need daily and is quality source of fiber and potassium. So, eating an orange has more advantages than taking a vitamin C supplement, which often contains far more vitamin C than you need.
The answer is not only yes, but "of course!". Especially anti-oxidant vitamins. Especially high doses of vitamin C (and glutathione) and....
Who remembers that the amount of vitamin C that Linus Pauling consumed as a supplement on a daily basis required the equivalent of more than 200 oranges? The "more than enough" is based on the idea of keeping us from dying of the vitamin C deficiency disease scurvy. But it creates a condition some call "chronic scurvy" and others call "cardiovascular disease." The number 1 killer.
As usual, there is probably an element of truth in this article because fruits (and some vegetables) and/or no-sugar-added fruit juices are very good cancer fighters on their own. They provide glucose - attached to anti-cancer nutrients and phyto-nutrients in the fruit.

Class! Class! Here we go again. So-called "major" ?studies? like this one are not designed to impress the average Joe, although they are fodder for a news cycle, they are specifically intended to influence medical doctors and keep them in line, else they might be tempted to listen to patients about how well supplements are working for them.
And what better way than a study that shows vitamins can kill you! Probably the biggest lie that can be told, but "they" are apparently desperate.
Daily multivitamins do not help people live longer, major study finds
Analysis of 400,000 healthy adults finds no health benefits from taking daily multivitamins
It is probably not worth spending too much time on analysis, because it is no great revelation that the small amounts and the low quality of most multivitamins aren't going to benefit "healthy" people all that much. But the headlines will start blaming vitamins for early death. It would be funny if it wasn't so diabolical.
Lets review. Vitamins were discovered because if they are missing in the diet, people eventually die (of the various deficiency diseases).
It is true, that with the probable exception of vitamin C, a "good" diet contains the vitamins and minerals required to maintain good health.
Linus Pauling's recommend high anti-oxidant dietary supplement regimen does include a multi-vitamin/multi-mineral, for insurance ;in case someone's diet happens to be less than perfect.
According to the CDC/Poison Control Centers, there has not been a recorded death from a vitamin overdose (even from the astounding 3 million IU dose mistakenly put in Gary Null's vitamin D3 product).
A close associate of Pauling friend Roger J Williams researched, and the only death discovered in the past 50 years was a fellow who drank gallons of carrot juice. Refs can be found on the VitaminCFoundation.org web site.
On the other hand, adverse reactions to prescription medications are at least the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States (JAMA's own study from way back)
How do you separate the death caused by prescription and over-the-counter medications from the "deaths" supposedly caused by multi-vitamins?

Sugar-free diets, high dose vitamin C and other false cures for cancer – an expert guide to spotting misinformation https://www.independent.ie/life/health- ... 84138.html
I'm not paying to read this disinformation, but (breast) cancers do have around 10 times more glucose receptors (to support rapid cell division) IMPLYING THEY REQUIRE A LOT OF SUGAR. Depriving cancers of its primary food source makes a lot of sense, especially because introducing high dose vitamin C at the same time (which uses the same GLUT/insulin receptor) makes the Vitamin C a Trojan Horse. Ascorbate fills cancer cells, but cannot be used for energy.
The biotin warning about interfering with blood testing may or may not be true. Wish I knew, but I do think I know that the vitamin A information is erroneous...
... and on too much Vitamin C
'The RDA for adults is 40mg daily, but this is the lowest level, to prevent things like scurvy,' says Bardwell. 'There's a trend for taking very high dose vitamin C for skin health and immunity. The upper limit is 2,000mg a day and even 1,000mg can cause stomach problems - nausea, vomiting and gastrointestinal discomfort'.
It's easy to consume these levels, especially in powder form. 'High doses are unlikely to cause harm, but it could certainly cause discomfort when taken orally, and is likely to be very expensive as an IV.'
The idea seems to be discourage vitamin/supplement use by suggesting that certain vitamins should not be taken at the same time. This misinformation has recently been integrated into Indian law.
These vitamins and minerals come together in our foods, and meals, suggesting that these concerns have been conjured up to throw people off the track of good health.
Good time to mention that Linus Pauling in HTLLAFB specifically recommended AGAINST the Vitamin D2 form.
And it is probably true the best way to get your vitamin D is from sunlight, along with other undiscovered substances that are made when sunlight hits our skin.
