Megadosing leads to sugar crash

Hi Owen,

I’ve been taking 20-23 grams of vitamin C per day for about 5 weeks.

I have a super healthy diet and am not a diabetic.

I was taking my vitamin C dosing throughout the day at various
intervals. But a few days ago I started taking 1 gram per hour up until
almost bed time. Then my blood sugar started crashing big time.

Does high dose vitamin C affect blood sugar?
Or does it pull minerals out of the body?

What do you think could be going wrong?

Thank you,
N.
Twenty grams of vitamin C daily is a very high bowel tolerance. Can you share what is going on with you?

How did you determine that your blood sugar was "crashing?"

Vitamin C can and does lead to an insulin release (and mimics glucose in this regard) and that may be what's happening.

You don't have to worry about vitamin C "pulling minerals" out of the body, a valid concern with ingesting distilled water BTW.

Assuming the increased insulin, eat some fruit in the evening to help avoid the crash and obtain needed nutrients.
