Does Vitamin C have any reactions when taking Warfarin?

Hi,

I'm taking Warfarin (5 mg daily) for aFib... any known interactions with L-ascorbic acid... I'm taking 12g daily.

Thanx,
C

Hopefully, one of our doctors will answer.

First, vitamin C by itself can be useful for aFib.

Second, Warfarin is a rat poison that rapidly calcifies soft tissues, and it does so by depleting vitamin K (which would otherwise act as a hormone to move calcium from soft tissues into bones. Over 250 studies showing this effect can be easily found at pubmed.gov) In my lay opinion, any person on Warfarin should be taking the K2 form of vitamin K (which apparently won't affect INR or clotting, but will help to counteract the vitamin K blocking Warfarin from turning your soft tissue and arteries rock hard.)

The direct answer to your question is that I know of now adverse reaction or contraindication regarding vitamin C and Warfarin.
