Magnesium and Heart Health
... that is the title of an article in the new journal from Life Extension. The article reports that magnesium helps prevent an array of cardiovascular disorders. Inadequate magnesium levels have been linked with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease, including stroke, coronary heart disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and death. According to Dr. Carolyn Dean, magnesium prevents muscle spasms in the blood vessels which can cause a heart attack. Described in her book „The Magnesium Miracle“.
According to LEF almost half of Americans of all ages are below the estimated average requirement for magnesium. This also applies to Germany.
Since the Framingham study we have known that the serum magnesium level should be above 0,9 mmol/l. My level was last 34,7 mg/dl. I think that‘s about 1,1 mmol/l. Measured in whole blood. This is better because there is only 30 % of the magnesium in the serum. 70 % are in the blood cells. The ref. value is 31,0 - 38,8. Tomorrow I’ll check my magnesium and other values of micronutrients again.
My arrhythmias have disappeared with the help of magnesium I take about 1,5 - 2 grams in different forms.
