Hi everyone
I have a question I have been doing great on the Pauling therapy..and just recently added Niacin 500mg and started to feel nauseated about an hour after taking it ...it seems to last all day stomach just feels queasy..so stoped taking it as that is all I have added..and today did not have any nausea..so was thinking maybe the dose is to high and should take less..start with 250 mgs.
I did research niacin and nausea was a side effect.

Hi Joanna
When I started taking Niacin I also started with a 500mg dose. I experienced nausea and also dizziness, particularly when standing up or bending
I persisted with the Niacin and built up to 1.5g within 2 weeks. The nausea and dizziness disappeared after the first week

I started very low with maybe 150 mg and increased every few days an other 50 mg. Still, with every increase for me the niacin-flush was almost not bearable. Nausea not that much. Nowadays with about 3 g a day for many years I don't get real flush anymore.

Try to combine it with flush free niacin and K2. After a meal and drink water. I take 400 mg flush free (mixed with 100 mg Inositol) and 500 mg release niacin. Without any problem.

Hello Joanna
Another tip. Read the book "Niacin, the Real Story" from Abram Hoffer ("father" of niacin) and Andrew Saul. Very interesting!

Hello Johnwen
I take a "flush free" product, that contains 400 mg niacin and 100 mg inositol. And in addition 500-1000 mg (normal/release) niacin from LifeExtension. And I don't experience a flush. What do you think? Is my combination OK?

Guess you actually wanted address Joanna. As I wrote:

LEFs immediate niacin capsules do cause a flush (that's what I've been taking). You just have to slowly increase the dose to feel it.

I get flushing on 2 g of niaspan, on IR 1 g 2x a day.
But none at all on IR 1 g 7 x a day after 1 day.
Go figure.
