Cramping and Sweats after years on high-dose PT

Post Number:#1  Post by ofonorow » Sat Nov 17, 2018 11:35 am

A long-time male customer is getting severe cramping from Cardio, all of a sudden. He was taking 4 scoops a day. He wonders if any ingredient changed?

I wondered if he simply doesn't need as much anymore, but he reports that the cramping and sweats are very severe and definitely tied to the Cardio, so that he has to lie down until they pass. That sounds like something else. Taking it with food doesn't make a difference.

4 scoops is 2500mg ( * 4 or) 10 g of lysine, or about double what Pauling recommended. He might try cutting down to 2 scoops, make sure he is taking the other ingredients Pauling recommended, including Vitamin E and a B complex, and add extra vitamin C to tolerance. Extra magnesium and potassium are good ideas.

It would be interesting to know what drugs he is also taking.

As far as the cramps (and sweats), often cramps are blamed on low potassium, but I have learned that they can also be caused by low cortisol - low adrenal function. Why the product would trigger a low cortisol condition is unknown.

The other idea is to take vitamin C and lysine as pills for a while (at the lower dose of 6 grams of each daily) to isolate whether it is something else in the formula. It is not unheard of to develop a reaction to stevia.
