80% Stenosis in Carotid, is there a difference if calcified?

Post Number:#1  Post by ofonorow » Mon Jul 22, 2019 1:30 pm

Hi, Owen,

I don’t know if you remember me – they say I have an 80% stenosis in my left carotid artery. I have been on the Vitamin C therapy taking 1 gram per day in four doses for about a year. I have gone to some other specialists and have them reading your stuff.

Question is: does the Vitamin C therapy have a greater chance of dissolving the plaque if the plaque is calcified or if it is big and fluffy…they say their therapy also makes the plaque go away. Again, does the calcification of the plaque prevent it from dissolving?

And in your book, Practicing Medicine without a License, you say that statins interfere with the Vitamin C therapy. Any level of statin? Even 2.5 mg twice a week? Just asking. I am leery of taking ANY statins in light of that and also in light of the long-term possible side effects.

The doctors want to put me on 2.5 mg of statin twice a week and 2.5 mg of an ACE inhibitor even though my blood pressure is beautiful. They say it will enlarge my blood vessels and make them more pliable. I say the Vit. C therapy and other long list of supplements (which they also support my taking) do the same. ????

I would greatly appreciate your response to this. I really don’t have time to search through the chat area to find these answers.

Gratefully,

Per: "4 grams daily", or 1 gram in 250 mg dosages? Either way, this amount of vitamin C is too little to have much affect on the plaque in your arteries.

Pauling's recommendation was 6 to 18 grams (6,000 to 18,000 mg) of vitamin C.

Furthermore, in my book, and in our experience, adding the amino acid lysine results in the plaque reversals. I know of no reversals on vitamin C alone.

Pauling recommended 2-3 grams of lysine for prevention and 5 to 6 grams (5000 to 6000 mg) of lysine for therapeutic value. I do cite a case where half the therapeutic amount, or 2500 mg of vitamin C and 2500 mg of lysine resulted in the clearance of an 80% carotid blockage, verified by surgery.

It is true that if the plaques are calcified, our experience is that another component, vitamin K, is required for reversals. We are not vitamin K experts, but one Super-K daily from Life Extension (LEF.ORG) works for my wife and me.

As far as the statins, 2.5 mg is an unusual dose, but I personally see no reason to consider it, unless your vitamin C remains low, and you are not adding lysine, One of my articles on Vitamin C, Statins and CoQ10 was just republished

Hi, Owen,

Thank you very much! I am taking 10,000 mg per day in four doses of 2500 mg. each. Robert will verify that we are regular purchasers of the Cardio C powder that also has the Lysine and Proline mixed in. I do take Vitamin K but only about 150 mg. per day. I will investigate the Vitamin K source you offered. Thank you for that! Perhaps that is the missing ingredient in my plaque reversal. Although it will be interesting to see the results from the ultrasound this Friday.

Thanks much to your link on statins and the Vitamin C therapy. I will pass it on to my doctor, who is reading everything I send him on this.
