Too much sodium

Has anyone had problems with all the sodium ingested in a high-dose sodium ascorbate IV? Do you use potassium to counter this?

People doing 3 or 4 50G IVs a week are taking in a heck of a lot of sodium...

Never till now…….I take 80 gms IVC (sodium ascorbate) at least once a week for quite a while no issues, never used K.

My BP rather falls during & after an IV cause VC dilates the vessels, feel a gush of heat over my body.

Than intense diuresis after a 1000 mL IV let's the extra Na if any flush out of the body.

Had similar thoughts years ago & got my electrolytes checked before & after 80-100 gms IVC & Na was & is always around 138-141 & K 4.0 mmol/L

Years ago I thought IVC was a rocket science but today I realize it’s simple, body friendly, unharmful provided one follows the basic principles.

Hope that helps.
Rookie, rusty, sub average doc but one that gives results!
