Keep IV and IM vitamin c away from light while storing?

Post Number:#1  Post by C-can » Sat Sep 07, 2019 9:17 pm

The Cathcart preparation instructions don't say anything about storing the solution in darkness, but I thought light caused degradation of vitamin c. Should I use a dark vial if preparing for IM use?

Also, do I need to buy bacteriostatic water or is distilled water good? I know that Cathcart has said vitamin C has natural bacteriocidal properties so is that good enough for sterility?

Vit C degrades by 50% in 4 hours in water solution. So basically your only getting half the stated dose, is that correct? I know it seems obvious but I like to be certain. Can anything be added to solution to slow this process down. I have asked this before but dont think I got a yes or no or dont know answer. So any stock solution or stored solution is pretty inferior stuff when compared to freshly made. 1000mg of stock solution is really only approx 500mg

EDTA is used as a preservative, I believe.

Is sterile water 'for irrigation' OK to use for VitC IV?. Instead of sterile water 'for injection'
