Conclusions
In conclusion, the results from this small-sized observational study of a pregnant T1DM cohort, the first of its kind, indicate that low levels of vitC status are associated with an increased risk of development and/or progression of retinopathy. The results are in accordance with the presented research, but further investigation is needed to verify the results. In the long term, it could have important clinical implications for T1DM pregnancy.
