Well Bunky, Feeling a little Punk after stopping the Pauling Therapy?

The reason people feel so good when they are taking high doses of vitamin C on the Pauling therapy is because we humans evolved over millions of years WITH high amounts of vitamin C in the body. Approximately 25 million years ago, an ancestor living in trees and eating a fruit diet lost their ability to make vitamin C, a rare occurrence in nature. People alive today do not generally enjoy the exceptional health that high vitamin C affords. Unless you regularly maintain the vitamin C in the Pauling therapy as recommended by Linus Pauling.
.
According to Pauling
,
Let us consider the common precursor of the primates, at a time about twenty-five million years ago. This animal and his ancestors had for hundreds of millions of years continued to synthesize vitamin C from glucose in foods. Let us assume that a population of this species of animal was living at the time, in an area that provided an ample supply of foods with a unusually large content of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), permitting the animals to obtain from their diet approximate the amount of ascrobic acid needed for optimum health. A cosmic ray or some other mutagenic agent than causes a mutation to occur, such that the enzyme in the liver that catalyzes the conversion lf L-gulonolactone to ascorbic acid was not longer present in the liver.

On the Pauling therapy you felt good, not realizing this is because your body craves the vitamin. When you stop the program, feeling punky isn't the only thing you notice. All the progress you made clearing your blocked arteries may stop or reverse, usually around six months
Linus Pauling wrote:
Vitamin C is a normal constitute of the body, required for life. It is involved in essentially all of the biochemical reactions that take place in the body and in all of the body's protective mechanisms,. With the ordinary intake of vitamin C these reactions and mechanisms do not operate efficiently, the person ingesting only the 60-milligram(mg) Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is in what might be call ordinary poor health.

The optimum intake of vitamin C, together with other health measures, can provide really good health, with increased protection against all disease. That increase in protection is secured, by strengthening the immune system, a process in which vitamin C plays a crucial role. The optimum intake is necessarily large. When that lesson is learned and practiced, the protection provided by vitamin C may well be the most important of all methods of orthomolecular medicine.
