Does DMSO oxidize vitamin C?

Post by C-can » Sun Jan 28, 2024 11:36 pm

If I were to mix sodium ascorbate powder or ascorbic acid powder for use over a period of days or weeks. Will the vitamin C oxidize and be reduced in strength by being dissolved in the DMSO?

Academically under ideal storage, it wont get oxidized. Which btw is near to impossible.
Practically, with less ideal environment, repeated air exposure etc. yes it would get oxidized by the water content generated. To sum up mixing for prolonged use is not a great idea.
That is one reason I make fresh DMSO for oral, infusions alone or in combinations with any med/supplement. Doesn't take more than 5 mins max.
