TBK-1 enzyme - switches fat storage (to fat burning when inhibited)

There is an interesting tidbit in Julian Michaels book 6 Keys... Something called TBK-1
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/320848.php

The TBK-1 enzyme is a burn fat/store fat switch. When inhibited, fat is burned.

Its interesting because the researchers found an old Asthma drug (developed in Japan, and no longer available in the USA) called amlexanox inhibits TBK-1, and thus induces fat burning! The drug is an anti-inflammatory drug, and in theory, you could take it while you needed to burn fat, and then stop :-)

Wiki says discontinued in the USA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amlexanox and has a tradename of Aphthasol. The wiki said the drugs was administered topically.

Strange that the drug would be taken off the market.. I remember something like this when vitamin K2 was found to be anti-cancer, it to was removed from the marketplace.

Another story
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/02/180208141245.htm that discusses amlexanox.

During the search, happened to notice this news that there is now a way to triple the effectiveness of Lipase, the enzyme that breaks down fats so they can be metabolized... For future reference.

There are some very interesting aspects to inhibiting the TBK1 enzyme, for example:

The drug has been removed by our friends at the FDA, yet research persists. We are looking for a natural analog..

Carboxylic Acid Derivatives of Amlexanox Display Enhanced Potency toward TBK1 and IKKε and Reveal Mechanisms for Selective Inhibition.

Despite improvements in the in vitro potency, no analog produced a greater response in adipocytes than amlexanox, perhaps because of altered absorption and distribution
