Wanting to reduce clonazepam (a benzodiazepine). Diarrhea happens far too easily.

Post by hziegler » Mon Oct 13, 2025 5:45 am

I'm reading an Orthomolecular book by Hoffer and Saul. They mention several examples of a patient being given large doses of Vitamin C orally. In milk. Problem is that whenever I take more than 5 grams of Calcium Ascorbate, I get diarrhea.

I have intentionally not taken clonazepam in 24 hours. I should be needing much, much more, like 25 grams, right? (Before bowel tolerance). I realize self-detox is potentially dangerous. But I do not have the money for medical supervision. Besides, they would never use Vitamin C.

In the book they use 30 to 50 grams of Sodium Ascorbate for heroin. It is given ORALLY in milk. They say it works. What am I doing wrong? Heroin isn't Clonazepam, but that should not matter!

Do I need Sodium not Calcium Ascorbate? My only other guess is that I have liver and pancreatic damage due to years of 'abuse'. An ultrasound verified this. Maybe my system can't handle 30 grams? I'm only 47 years old.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

See titrate http://www.doctoryourself.com/titration.html for individually different bowel tolerances.

Calcium ascorbate should not be used for such high doses, since it would give you calcium overdose. It has about 10% calcium, so that 25 g calcium ascorbate would give you already 2.5 g of calcium.

Sodium ascorbate is a much better and viable alternative. Just start with much lower doses and use more frequently to increase tolerance. Start like with half a gram every half, or full hour, and increase gradually to see if and how much you can tolerate this way.

Personally prefer pure ascorbic acid powder. Also to avoid too much filler or binders in tabs or caps (which can cause diareah too), and mixed in water with half the weight of sodium bicarbonate actually creates sodium ascorbate, by chemical reaction. Much cheaper too.
