Could you link to the actual study?

3x times less could come just from observational data with absolutely no proof of causality. Or it could mean 3 in a 100 died on a vegetarian diet, while 1 in a 100 only on a carnifore. How long did they study it? All-cause mortality? - Without giving us those specifics too its most likely the only study you base your 1-size-fits-all recommentation is really meaningless to any other knowing to verify studies.

Magnesium citrate contains only 16% of elemental magnesium, the rest is citric acid. To get 2.4 gram of 'elemental' magnesium you would have to consume 15 g of magnesium citrate bulk powder. If one takes more magnesium than one tolerates the most common effect is diarhea.

Such things can easily found with simple internet searches.

gotcha... then I do get hit with GI issues from taking MG, but that's a good thing

yes, internet searches can reveal a lot of info, if one knows where to look, etc
asking questions is a great way to learn, ie Socratic method.

With such a question, as: 'How much lysine can you take safely' it could be fatal. Someone who tolerated 20 g per day (from diet and supplements) even with stent might respond: *No porblem!'. But the questioner for some unknown reason might not tolerate at all, and be killed. Do a internet search for lysine benefits + side effects to be prepared.

purebulk mg citrate

so what happens to you when you take more than 2.40987 grams?
Ive never heard of any limit to eating protein, which lysine is. where did you hear that?

Here where the upper tolerable limit is mentioned: http://jn.nutrition.org/content/137/6/1642S.full.pdf

add in on Mg-citrate is that first it forms MgCl2 that become Mg(OH)2 in the intestine, some will be absorbed. The rest will create loose and solid stool plus irritate the rectum a lot.
