I haven't researched the issue that much yet, but was wondering if anyone can comment on this issue of diabetic taking high dose vitamin C and actually (apparently) being harmed long term by it.

My dad has diabetes and is currently suffering something that appears to be an internal infection (fatigue, nausea, sweating, weight loss, high white blood cell count), but it could be something worse. He is currently functioning, he's not on his last leg or anything, but he does not feel good, even after taking two different courses of antibiotics over the past couple weeks.

The first thing that comes to mind is for him to take high doses of C. But I don't know much about how it affects diabetics. One of the great diabetes doctors, Richard Bernstein, M.D., I believe actually advises against high doses of C for diabetics, because it causes some issue with insulin (I for get what it was - maybe lowers it too much?) http://www.amazon.com/Richard-K.-Bernst ... 204&sr=8-9

The OJ I drank this morning had more V-C then they used in these studies.
