Owen,
Hey Owen. How's it going? Loved your book!! On page 101 of the book it mentions omega 3 fish oils and how doctors would inquire to you as to why their patients would respond so well to it. It then goes on to say that there was no definitive answer to this. I was wondering if any thought had been given to the possibility that the patients were all deficient in efa's? which is fairly common. Love what your doing..........Paul
Thanks for the support.
The rest of that sentence is "until the writings of Thomas Smith at Healingmatters.com provided one."
Vitamin C has to enter cells in order to work most of its magic.
Mr. Smith's theory, supported by the literature he found, is that Type II diabetes can be caused by a disturbance of the cell membrane that blocks the transport of glucose (and some vitamin C) into cells. This disturbance is caused by eating processed foods with trans fatty acids. His "fix" is to first eliminate all fats, and then slowly introduce good essential fatty acids, mostly Omega/3s - because cell membranes use what ever fats are available during their ongoing repair processes.
Lots of words to say that healthy fats in the diet promote healthy cell membranes which allow cells to absorb glucose (and vitamin C). So the connection between EFAs and vitamin C is at the cellular membrane.
