Lp(a) still high after fifteen years on the Pauling Therapy

I have some questions about your new Cardio-C XM product. I was not able to take the other version of the product because it has Stevia in it, which I am allergic to. I have been taking ascorbic acid and lysine tablets for over 15 years now. I have never taken proline with it. I turned Plantbased about six months ago and all of my cholesterol numbers have come down to the normal range… But my Lp(a) is still higher than i would like at 65 (range from Labcorp is less than 75) but it still scares me being at 65. I have had three calcium CT scans done over the last 15 years and all of my scores have been zero which is awesome! Again, I would love to chat on the phone if you have a few minutes so I can ask you more detailed questions…

One doubts Labcorp measures Lp(a), but you could ask them.

From what you are telling me, your Lp(a) is likely okay. If you are worried look for a lab that actually measures Lp(a).

I think the XM powder would be a good choice, but if after Lp(a) verification, and you are still concerned, you could look to add a proline supplement to your regimen.

Even if Lp(a) were elevated, vitamin C and lysine are "Lp(a) binding inhibitors."

Hi Owen! thank you so much for emailing me! I have had my Lp(a) checked many times with Labcorp and my number is 65 nmol/L. I feel that is way too high! Do you agree? My ApOb level is 65 mg/dL. Here are my most recent cholesterol levels as of 3 weeks ago. And I am now a plant-based eater of as 6-months ago. Curious what your thoughts are on this because Cardiologists here seem clueless and say even though my overall cholesterol levels are within normal range, the fact my Lp(a) is on the higher end of normal that can cause heart attacks or stroke and I am terrified!

"Here are my most recent results..." Nothing came across email?

Just because you've seen the same number doesn't mean it isn't calculated. You want to check with another non-national lab that measures Lp(a).

The partial good news is that cardiologists are finally starting to pay attention and be trained on Lp(a) by drug reps because there are new $10,000/month drugs that lower Lp( a).

One small problem, I think theses drugs kill people.

I agree on the drugs killing people! ugh! and i’m not sure what you mean about my Lp(a) number not being calculated? What does that mean exactly? And you are saying Labcorps reading can be incorrect and i should try a different lab like Quest?

Not Quest, or any large national lab that calculate (rather than measures) Lp(a).

But yes, the FDA many years ago allowed the big labs to "calculate" Lp(a) and you need to find a lab that measures. You might ask your local hospital if they measure Lp(a) and you could get them to draw your blood.

Actually, 65 nmol/l is not a bad number (it would be bad if mg/dl).

And yes drugs kill people, but I was specifically referring to these new $10,000/month Lp(a) lowering drugs!
